Intoduction- If not a bit late

\Ok, I've done this the wrong way round. Started posting before I even tell you who I am. Just an ordinary (well... maybe not that ordinary) girl, with a kinda crazy family, a whole load of dreams and ideas (that don't always work out) and a mostly sunny attitude to life. So... this is me.

I have a pet rabbit called JimJim, who is a house rabbit and lives in the sitting room, in a mahooosive cage.  He's very fluffy, black with dark brown tints, and a little bit fat- ok lets just call him chubby. He's basically adorable. Every day we take him for walks (yes, on a lead) with my dog.

Arthur, (or King Arthur, as I sometimes jokingly call him) is only a few months younger than me, so we basically grew up together. Arthur is now a very, very old dog. He is a black and white Cocker Spaniel, and a very greedy, disobedient dog. We love him all the same, and I can't remember love without him. In fact, "Arthur" was my first word.

Ok, pretty wacky Mum, in fact, she can be more of a best mate than a mum most of the time. She's not very strange, but she cooks things like pasta for breakfast, bunjee jumps, and suddenly picked up sticks and moved us all to the canary islands. Maybe she is quite strange....

That's our little family. Nearly last year ago, the 3 of us (we didn't have Jim Jim at the time) moved from busy London (we where back from the Canaries) to a quiet village in Sussex. Life has changed quite a lot since then.

I hope you enjoy my blog on life, fashion, animals, and art.

Pastels

Apparently, the in colours this season are pastels. Spearmint, lilac, pale blues and yellows are all hot colours in this chilly trend. But, personally, I have very pale skin, so lighter colours make me look washed out and ill. Plus, these sorbet shades can be too whimsical and girly. SO, i think im going to have a go at making pastels...
HARDCORE

Right, first off. Dramatic, architectual shapes add structure, but keeping the look clean and fresh is all part of this trend. A well tailored leather jacket adds a twist to a 20s style flapper dress, another look thats big this season. Right, backstage at Ralph Lauren's spring/summer catwalk. Left, All Saints leather jacket, £295.

If you can't afford a whole new wardrobe (and neither can I) A few accessories and maybe a new shirt
can give a fresh update to your look. Just don't overdo the pale colours, and keep the silhouette simple.
And an ample dose of black, or studs, will always toughen up a bit of feathers and those sorbet shades.

What to do... with old jeans

Ok, just had a clearout of my wardrobe, and I've got 3 pairs of jeans that don't fit me now. They're meant to be going to the charity shop, but I've got an idea. Meanwhile, I cut another old pair into high waisted shorts, perfect for when the sun finally does shine. (we live in hope).

I was inspired by the cool rips in these shorts:

My own version. Ta daa!

Can't seem to be able to find any places that sell studs around me, otherwise I would have loved to be able to add a bit more decoration. I was thinking about dying them pink, but the dye is very expensive and i think they look fine as they are.

I shall enjoy wearing these in the sunny months to come.

New H&M Exclusive Glamour Collection

I'm getting excited about H&Ms new collection. Yes, H&M is cheap, and I love shopping there, but its not exactly... upmarket. Maybe this could be the start of a new era. Like these beautiful dresses. I love the way they flow.

(right) £39.99
(left) £49.99

And with these prices, they're hardly going to break the bank. But, I am concerned about the quality. If they're that cheap, i don't think they'll be made from very good material. And there isn't anything very exclusive about them either. Oh well, I personally won't be buying, but I'm sure there are lots of people who will.

Just a few trends...

PS I made this shows us how to make a colour block clutch.
Primary colours are bright, basic colours that look great grouped together.

Is it me, or am I seeing loads of scalloped clothing? Scalloped shorts in particular, but yesterday I came across a scalloped hat, and a scalloped neck shirt. So, I went digging around on the internet, in search of some scalloped DIYs for you. Hanna's scalloped skirt is one of the simplest, if not the quickest

I was intending to cut some old jeans into scalloped shorts, but I cut them too short and now can't scallop them. But, I will be looking for unwanted jeans in friends and family's wardrobes, so maybe one of my own DIY's will be up here soon.

Transitional rules, winter-spring

Ok, a few tips now that things are sunnier, but still quite chilly.
Ways to look hot, but stay warm:

1. Layers. With a knitted cardigan, you can still see your cool t-shirt, but your arms stay warm. I love this colour, £20 from Topshop.
Knitted Crew Neck Boxy Cardi
2. Wearing tights under your shorts, or skirt, can be a really good way to keep you cosy. Contrasting colours add uniqueness (if that is even a word). Green tights, John Lewis.

3. Don't get ahead of yourself. I went out and bought a whole new summer wardrobe. Then, it snows (in scotland at least) and it's freezing. Bummer.
